Faster than the wanton wind,
Quicker than the debaters think,
Time flew and I couldn’t keep up,
Finally I knew I grew up!
From craze for chocolates and a barbie doll
To being considerate for all!
When little things were not joyous enough,
I knew I grew up!
From wetting eyes in genuine repentance,
To an aching heart crying in silence!
When failures could not stop my rising up,
I knew I grew up!
From being a kid- so stubborn and adament
To believing in compromises and adjustment!
From sweating shirts to unending whatsapp,
I knew I grew up!
From wondering about the limits of sky,
To practical aspirations not-so-high!
When eyes were wide before the alarm rang up,
I knew I grew up!
From completing homeworks with a sigh,
To struggling with maths’ x and y.
From cool handshakes to texting sssup!
I knew I grew up!
When failures question my ability,
When excuses overpower my honesty,
When I look at the people- I hurt,
I wonder if I really grew up!
